Features and improvements we've recently shipped.
Have you ever wanted to accept credit cards on your website without sending your customers to Paypal? All FASO accounts now support accepting credit cards via Stripe. All you have to do is setup a free Stripe account (if you don't have one) and connect your Stripe account to your FASO account. This provides your customers with a much smoother checkout process and does not send them to a separate site, the transaction stays all in your shopping cart.
To connect Stripe, visit the commerce section and click "Activate Stripe"
At the Stripe screen click "Connect Your Stripe Account"
Stripe will then walk you through the process of setting up your account and/or connecting it to FASO. Once you finish on the Stripe side, you will return to FASO and see the following screen:
Now that Stripe is connected, when a customer checks out and enters your shopping cart, they will have a new option to "Pay with Credit Card":
Once the customer clicks "Pay with Credit Card" there is a new screen in the shopping cart that allows them to enter their card data and finish the transaction:
And once the customer completes the purchase, they'll see the following confirmation
Our Stripe implementation charges very competitive transaction fees which vary by plan level. Please note that our fees are in addition to any fees that Stripe charges. Stripe charges less than Paypal to process payments. The fees that FASO charges for our different plans can be found here: https://faso.com/pricing.html
We've released an improvement to the way the shopping cart works for your site visitors.
When visitors decide to put an item in the cart and then "Continue Shopping", they need a way to get back into the cart if they decide not to buy anything else. Our previous solution to this involved a black bar at the top of your website and used a technology that increasingly doesn't work as well on the modern web and doesn't work very well on mobile. Our old solution also broke the URLs in the browser bar in a way that didn't look very good and made sharing links with friends or family more difficult.
This change fixes that. The black bar has been replaced with a prominent, and nicely styled little "slide out" tab. It also sports a quick preview so visitors can see what's in their cart without going all the way into the cart. This is a common pattern on many ecommerce platforms and should feel very familiar to site visitors.
This change only applies to our latest generation of templates. If you're still using a very old template the cart behavior will continue to work as it always has, which is sub-optimal in 2021 (and you should upgrade your template).
Here's what the cart tab looks when closed like on desktop:

We've added the ability for you to customize the wording that your purchaser sees when they are presented with the option to sign up for your newsletters as they go through the checkout process in the shopping cart.
By default, your purchaser will see the following option as they check out:
You can change the text that appears there. In this example, I've changed it from "Please subscribe me to this artists's newsletter" to "Please signup for Clintavo's newsletter!"
If you'd like to make a similar change on your site. Just head to the commerce screen in your FASO account and make the change in the appropriate text box:
We've released a new template called "Tilby".
This template was designed in collaboration with master artist, Deborah Tilby. It is made to be more visually compact, especially vertically than many of our other templates and is designed for those who like maximum information density on their pages.
You can see a sample of it here:

We've added a new setting in your control panel that allows you to hide the discount code section of the shopping cart if you don't offer discount codes to your customers.
It's in the settings area (found by dropping down the menu in the upper right of your control panel and going to account settings -> settings).

We've launched an improved currency selection screen. Previously, we had two different currency settings - one for the website and one for the shopping cart. For obvious reasons, this was confusing. We've unified them into one simple currency selection screen. The new screen appears below.
You can access this screen both from your commerce settings and from Account settings -> Change your website preferences.
We've launched an improved shopping cart design that looks great both on desktop computers and mobile smartphones. There's nothing you need to do to enable this new design. This new design will provide a much better checkout experience for your customers if they are on mobile devices and a better designed experience on desktop.
Here's what it looks like:

We are still working on some further improvements which include paying with a credit card (via Stripe) and the ability to preview the cart via a slide out tab on your website. Those projects are still in development and testing.
